Mexican burglar gets stuck in railings trying to flee a crime scene

I’m a criminal, get me out of here! Bungling ‘burglar’ gets his head stuck in railings for two-and-a-half hours before police cut him free

This is the moment a suspected burglar was spotted with his head stuck in railings, where he was trapped for more than two-and-a-half hours. 

The man was trying to climb through a metal grate which protected a property’s open yard from break-ins in Morelia, Mexico. 

According to witnesses it took more than two hours for the emergency services to arrive at the scene.

The man was handcuffed by his rescuers and led to the edge of the roof where he was passed to another officer on the ground

Witnesses filmed the man with his head and one arm above the metal grid, the rest of this body underneath. 

He was crouching at an awkward angle with his feet on top of a concrete wall. 

It is not obvious from the footage how he had got stuck on Monday afternoon.  

One witness said: ‘He looks like a rat caught in a rat trap.’ 

The suspect was eventually freed by three police officers who used bolt cutters to slice through the iron bars. 

An officer dragged the man onto the flat roof of the property he had planned to burgle and handcuffed him. 

One of the officers was brandishing an assault rifle. A second made his way down from the roof in an acrobatic fashion, performing a somersault.  

The criminal was led by the officer to a squad car for transport to the local police station
