British couple who tried to sneak woman into their luxury Barbados hotel room are fined

A British couple who decided to spice up their Barbados holiday by inviting a Jamaican woman to their hotel for sex have fallen foul of island’s tough Coronavirus quarantine rules.

Andrew Luker and Julia Knightley follow a number of Britons, including Love Island star Zara Holland, to have fallen foul of the Caribbean island’s strict pandemic laws.  

A security guard spotted local Mikaela Jacas hop over the wall of the Turtle Beach Hotel after midnight and enter the room where Andrew Luker and Julia Knightley were staying and raised the alarm. 

Police were called and the threesome were rounded up as they were enjoying a post-coital drink on the patio of their luxury accommodation.

The couple from Greater Manchester were caught when Jamaican woman Mikaela Jacas was seen scaling a wall at Treasure Beach hotel in St James

Mr Luker, a plant hire director, from Rochdale, and Ms Knightley, a beautician Cheadle Hume, pleaded guilty to breaching the Covid-19 quarantine protocol when they appeared in court yesterday. 

They were each fined £2,200, freed on £7,000 bail, but warned they would be jailed for nine months if they didn’t pay within seven days.

Ms Knightley, 41, a single mother-of-four and qualified nurse, made national news headline several years ago when she used provocative images of herself in revealing underwear to promote her cosmetic clinic.

She apologized after being accused of being unprofessional over the raunchy way in which she advertised her non-surgical cosmetic clinic in her town.

Knightley and Luker appeared before the same magistrate who spared Love Island star Zara Holland jail for a similar breach of Covid regulations.

Ms Knightley said ignorance of the law was no excuse for their actions.

She admitting to knowing they could not leave the hotel while awaiting test results – but claimed she didn’t know they couldn’t invite guests to their room.

Mr Luker said he totally regretted what had happened, adding: “Beyond that there is nothing to say besides to apologies.”

Magistrate Ian Weekes said he was ‘baffled’ by the couple’s actions.

And he said if they had been infected with Covid their actions could have led to it being spread among the local community.

The couple arrived on the island on December 28 and are scheduled to leave on January 9.    

On Wednesday Knightley and Luker appeared before the same magistrate who dealt with Love Island’s Zara for a similar breach of Covid regulations
