Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released their first Christmas card since relocating to California, and showed off 19-month old Archie’s shock of red hair.

The couple can be seen playing with their young son in the yard of their $14.7million Montecito home, along with dogs Pula and Guy.

The card is a drawing of an image taken by Meghan’s mom Doria earlier this month.

It was released Wednesday via Mayhew, the UK animal charity for which Meghan, 39, is a patron and reads: ‘Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.’

A spokesperson for the couple said: ‘The original photo of the family was taken at their home earlier this month by The Duchess’s mother.

‘The small Christmas tree, including the homemade ornaments and other decorations, were selected by Archie, and the tree will be replanted after the holidays.’

The card offers a sneak peek into the family’s home and Archie’s playhouse.

In the card Meghan writes: ‘This year we, as a family, have made donations to several charities with you in mind.

‘From a local California organisation that helps families transition out of homelessness, to two of our U.K. patronages: one that supports animal and community welfare, and the other, a memorial fund for a cherished friend that helps to educate children and fight poverty in Uganda, we have honoured their work on behalf of all of us.’

Harry, 36, and Meghan relocated to Montecito after staying at Tyler Perry’s $18million, 12-bedroom, eight-bathroom Beverly Hills home.

They spent last Christmas in Canada after stepping down as senior royals.

In November Meghan wrote for The New York Times about her July miscarriage. ‘Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,’ she said.

The couple, who are understood to be spending the festive period with Doria, recently announced they have signed a lucrative podcast deal with Spotify worth up to £30million.

They will produce and host their own shows as part of the newly formed Archewell Audio – starting with a ‘holiday special’ that the couple hopes will ‘uplift audiences around the world’.

The Sussexes’ agreement comes just months after they also agreed to a £100million partnership with Netflix and days after Meghan invested in a $28-per-pack oat-milk ‘superlatte’ business later promoted for free by her LA neighbour Oprah Winfrey.

Last year, Harry and Meghan’s family Christmas card showed the couple grinning as baby Archie stared down the camera lens.

In 2018 the then newlyweds sent a black and white image from their summer wedding at Frogmore House.

The festive black and white card showed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex laughing as they posed in front of a Christmas tree, with Archie’s face in the foreground of the image.

It was shared on social media by the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and read: ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our family to yours.’

The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall released their official 2020 Christmas card last week, choosing a picture of their family relaxing in the gardens of Birkhall.

It shows Prince George, seven, sitting next to his father, Prince William.

Pick a cozy Ralph Lauren knit like Princess Charlotte

Last year’s Cambridge Christmas card was a little more summery. This year, however, they’ve opted for a winter vibe by wrapping up in layers of knitwear and boots.

Princess Charlotte looked super cute and cozy in her intarsia jumper by Ralph Lauren.

The gorgeous green moss sweater is designed with a charming house and floral design that also boasts mismatched buttons and puff sleeves.

Sadly, the wool-blend sweater has now sold out. If you want to recreate the look for your little one click (right) to get a closer look at Charlotte’s jumper before heading to the carousel to shop an alternative from the high-street pieces we’ve rounded up.
