Girl, four, dies and woman, 35, is fighting for her life after ‘incident’ at house in south London

A four-year-old girl has died and a 35-year-old woman has suffered life-threatening injuries following an incident in south London.
Police were called to the address in Mitcham at 4pm following reports of two people being injured.
According to Scotland Yard, they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The Metropolitan Police were called to an incident in Mitcham, south London at 4pm today where they discovered a woman and a child suffering injuries
Officers closed the road while they examined the scene searching for clues
Police secured the scene at the address on Monarch Parade, Mitcham.
According to a Met spokesperson: ‘Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and a woman and a child were inside a property suffering injuries.
‘The woman, aged 35, has been taken to hospital where her injuries are deemed life-threatening.
‘The child, a four-year-old girl, was also taken to hospital however was pronounced dead shortly after. Next of kin have been informed.
‘A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.’
Officers are currently at the crime scene searching for evidence. They said at this early stage of the investigation, they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Scotland Yard said nobody has yet been arrested although enquiries continue.

The road outside the property, which is on a parade of shops near Mitcham Library, was closed for several hours.
Witnesses filmed the police response and the helicopter taking the two victims to hospital.
The Metropolitan Police said they will be releasing further information about the incident later
