A talented baker has created a cake that looks exactly like a lasagne – complete with pasta sheets, béchamel sauce and beef mince.

Tigga MacCormack, from Melbourne, carefully constructed a chocolate mudcake with fondant, ganache and cake bits to replicate the savoury Italian dish.

She rolled out fondant to make lasagne sheets, mixed brown cake bits with red coloured ganache to replicate pasta sauce with ‘meat’, made béchamel sauce out of white chocolate and caramelised the top with a blowtorch to create ‘cheese’.

The cake decorator shared a now-viral TikTok video showing exactly how she assembled the cake to make it look identical to lasagne.

‘I put some choc mud bits in some red ganache for my pasta sauce. I rolled out some pasta-coloured fondant and I cut that into strips,’ she explained.

‘I layered that with my ganache pasta sauce all the way up the outside of my little mud cake. I also added in some more choc mud bits for some extra “meat”.’

She repeated the step with all layers until she reached the top of the cake.

‘I just kept going until I got to the top. Then I finished it off with one piece of lasagne sheet fondant on top,’ she said.

To create the golden cheesy layer on top, she used a blowtorch to lightly caramelised the fondant.

‘For the fun bit, I got a blowtorch lighter and I caramelised the top to make it look like real cheese. I also caramelised the edges as well,’ she explained.

She drizzled white chocolate ganache all around the layers to replicate the béchamel sauce oozing out of the lasagne sheets.

Tigga confirmed the caramelised fondant ‘tastes good’.

‘It has a toffee flavour once caramelised, which is basically what it is as fondant is mostly sugar,’ she explained.

Her video has since been viewed more than 225,000 times, dozens of people were amazed with her realistic looking dessert.

‘You are so talented. I thought I was watching an episode of crazy cakes or something,’ one wrote.

Many said her cake looked ‘so real’, ‘brilliant’ and ‘incredible’ while others insisted her creation is ‘playing with my head and taste buds’.

‘That is epic. Now I’m hungry but I’m not sure if I want lasagne or cake,’ one wrote, while another said: ‘Now I’, confused and I don’t know if I want lasagne or cake.’

‘This gives me salty vibes but when you bite, it’s sweet. What a surprise,’ one added.
