Millions will get a text from the Government encouraging them to get a coronavirus booster jab this Boxing Day.
The message is part of the Get Boosted Now campaign and is the latest attempt to reduce the impact of the Omicron variant sweeping the UK.
The message will read: ‘Get boosted now. Every adult needs a Covid-19 booster vaccine to protect against Omicron.

An estimated 1.7 million people in the UK had Covid-19 in the week ending December 19, the highest number since comparable figures began in autumn 2020, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said today.
London is being hit hardest by Omicron variant. The capital quickly became a hotbed for the strain earlier this month, with one in 20 in the city infected according to ONS data.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid, pictured, said: ‘Millions of vaccine slots are available through the festive calendar so if you’re not boosted and you get this text, take up the offer and get vaccinated’
The ten postcodes, all in Wandsworth and Lambeth, have an average infection rate of 3,819 cases per 100,000 people, more than quadruple the 838 per 100,000 in the rest of the country.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid said: ‘We are texting this Boxing Day for all eligible adults to get boosted now.
‘It has never been as important to get protected with the booster, so whether it is in between turkey sandwiches or before the Boxing Day fixtures, whatever your traditions make the booster a part of them this year.
‘Millions of vaccine slots are available through the festive calendar so if you’re not boosted and you get this text, take up the offer and get vaccinated.’
The latest ONS figures also show that builders and transport workers are the least likely professions to have a Covid booster.
An estimated 39.8 per cent of people in skilled construction and building trades in England, 42.6 per cent of plant and machine operatives and 43.9 per cent of transport and mobile machine drivers and operatives have had an extra dose.
In contrast, 75.3 per cent of health professionals and 58.7 per cent of health and social care associate professionals have gotten a third dose.
