A man has transformed his home into a groovy 70s inspired home for £2,500 with second-hand items bought online.
Ben Scott, 28, was inspired by his grandparents home when decorating his two-bedroom, mid-terrace house in the style of the 70s in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
His home is filled with groovy floral patterns, oranges and browns along with retro furniture including a gas fireplace.
The former support worker’s 1970s nostalgic home cost no more than £2,500 to renovate because he buys most items from eBay and Facebook marketplace, with the priciest costing £80.

Everything in Ben’s house is inspired by the 70s, from the warm yellow and beige tones to the original wallpaper in the kitchen, pictured, the crockery and kitchen utensils
He said: ‘I absolutely love 70s decor. I find modern houses all look the same.
‘Mine has a bit of personality and guests instantly know what I like by walking through my door.
‘The walls used to be magnolia but it felt so cold.
‘Whereas now I have lots of warm tones such as yellows, oranges and browns.
‘Everything in my house is either free, from eBay or Facebook Marketplace.
‘My sofa was free from a stranger on Facebook and it was barely ever sat on.
The former support worker carefully picked the items from second-hand buying websites like Facebook Marketplace. His bedroom, pictured, is full of yellow cushions, old headphones, plants and Formica units that match the floral wallpaper
Ben, pictured, who is only 28, said he feels all modern homes look the same and wanted to emulate the ‘comforting’ atmosphere of his grandparents’ home
‘In the 70s, a lot of people used to use their living room as more of a showroom so that has worked in my favour with the sofa.
‘The fireplace was £20 and so was the unit next to my bed.’
The most expensive item in Ben’s home is the armchair which cost £80.
He adds: ‘I usually pay around £20 for an item or less.
Ben only paid £20 for the floral wallpaper in his bedroom, and decorated with plants, faux-fur rugs and colourful throws, as well as items from the 1970s
The living-room was painted in warm orange, pictured, and furnished with the fireplace, which only cost £20, as well as dark wood furnishing and an eye-catching sofa
‘I have a large west German lamp in my living room which looks more than £20.
‘The kitchen wallpaper was £10 and the yellow floral wallpaper in my bedroom was £20.
‘Some things are second hand whilst others have never been used – either way, I don’t mind.
‘Everything from the bath rug to dinnerware is 70s inspired in my house.
‘I have a wooden cabinet in my living room and I have stuck 70s inspired vinyl wallpaper to the back of it.
‘I have been decorating for the last two years but it really spiralled during the lockdown as I found decorating helped with my mental health.
The funky floral wallpaper Ben used for his kitchen only cost £10. He has also decorated with floral platters, pots, wind chimes and crockery that emulates the 1970s, pictured
The art and sculptures Ben picked for each room are quintessential 1970s, and one of the two bedrooms comes with a corner bed full of cushions and shaggy rugs
‘I am now surrounded by vibrant floral patterns that I love.
‘My home definitely helps lift my spirit.’
Ben was inspired by his late grandparents Sarah, 82, and granddad Jeff, 73, who have sadly passed away.
He adds: ‘Growing up I lived with my grandparents and their house was similar.
‘So now my home feels as safe as it did back then.
‘It is comforting being in my house as it reminds me of them.’
