A councillor has spoken of his relief that no-one was injured when a wall and part of a roof collapsed at flats in Wrexham.
The sudden accident happened at Llys y Mynydd flats in Rhosllanerchgrugog on Friday at about 4pm. Wrexham Council have launched an investigation into how it happened.
It is understood that the building was unoccupied. Several rooms were being enlarged but that all workers had left the site.
Cllr Paul Pemberton told North Wales Live: ‘I’m just made up that nobody was hurt.
The sudden accident happened at Llys y Mynydd flats in Rhosllanerchgrugog on Friday at about 4pm
‘I can assure people that a full investigation will take place and I will see to it personally that it is publicised.’
He added: ‘The building was decanted several weeks ago. They were reducing the amount of flats, possibly by about six, as I recall. I don’t know what happened to cause this.
‘The old roof seems to have collapsed.’
Earlier, Cllr Pemberton told residents on Facebook: ‘Apparently all trades had left when this collapse happened and a full investigation is underway.

‘I spoke to council architect(s) late last evening and he was busy arranging safety concerns. He was also on site when I visited first thing this morning, reps from Read construction who are the main contractors were on site, building control & structional (sic) engineers and HSE are also expected shortly.
‘I am assured that thorough investigations will identify the cause and will be made public in due course.If anything further happens I will inform.’
