At least three people have been shot on Tuesday at the conclusion of a high school graduation ceremony taking place at Xavier University, in New Orleans.
New Orleans police said they have arrested a suspect who allegedly opened fire at the parking lot outside the Convocation Center venue once the graduation ceremony ended.
The suspect and the victims have yet to be identified, with New Orleans EMS quickly transporting the injured to a local hospital. Their conditions are not yet known.
Witnesses told Fox 8 that a fight had appeared to broken out following the graduation ceremony, with about five to 12 gunshots allegedly fired as a result.

One of the many seniors who graduated at the ceremony echoed claims that the gunshots rang out as a result of a fight.
‘They were fighting,’ the senior told WWL. ‘My cousin said, ”They’re fighting over there, let’s go.’ Then I heard gunshots.’
Another senior told the local news outlet that they saw an elderly woman get shot in the head in the parking lot.
‘One of my friends’ grandma got shot right in the middle of the street and she didn’t have anything to do with it,’ said another graduate. ‘She got shot in the head. She’s in critical condition.’
