An angry customer blockaded a McDonald’s drive-through for two hours this morning and only left after police arrived.

Stuart Yates, 55, refused to move his car from the drive through after a stalemate row over a refund for sausage and egg McMuffins.

He parked his car blocking any cars behind him from getting past or leaving, after the 9.30am row in Leyland, Lancashire.

Mr Yates ordered two McMuffins off the breakfast menu for his son and his friend and was asked by staff to wait in the car park while the meals were made.

He claims that when he told staff he waited for over 15 minutes previously they gave him a cash refund instead of putting it back on the card he paid with.

The motorist said: ‘A girl came out and threw my money and change onto my car roof and said ”leave or I’m calling the police”.

Mr Yates said he would wait ‘all week’ if needed for the refund to be put back on his card but after a two-hour hold-up at the drive-through and a visit from Lancashire Police he finally drove off.

After the hold up Mr Yates said: ‘A week ago I got made to wait in the car park for over 15 minutes.

The father insists he did not swear and did not break any laws this morning (pictured) The McDonalds drive-through in Leyland

‘A lad spotted me and said ‘oh, it’s him again’, because last time I complained. They said go and wait in the car park* I said ‘I’m not going anywhere until I get my food’.’

‘I said ‘I’m not moving, I’m well within my rights asking for a refund to be put back onto my card’. I said I’m going nowhere until I’ve had my money put back on my card. It’s not a big ask, surely.

‘They eventually gave me a refund and tried passing me a long letter they had typed out, but I refused to accept it.

‘I hadn’t sworn, I hadn’t done anything threatening. I hadn’t broken any laws.’

Staff asked him to wait in the car park while the McMuffins were prepared, but he said: ‘A week ago I got made to wait in the car park for over 15 minutes’

Mr Yates did never got his McMuffins but ordered two Big Macs on Uber Eats when he got home instead.

McDonald’s was contacted but declined to comment however one staff member said: ‘The other cars have managed to reverse out, but now he won’t move.

‘We asked him to park up and he wouldn’t, so now he’s just sat there. He only wanted a small order. It would have only taken a minute.

‘Now he’s refusing to move, he wouldn’t park, he wouldn’t accept the food, he wouldn’t accept a refund. He’s been sat there for a good 20 minutes now.’

The Mail Online have reached out to Lancashire police for comment.
