The couple are already parents to elder daughter Lyra Antarctica, 21 months, whom they welcomed in August 2020.
The birth will come as a complete surprise to fans as the Shape Of You hitmaker and his partner had not previously announced they were set to become parents again.
Ed’s Instagram post was met with a plethora of congratulatory messages from his fans.

Good news: Captioning his snap, Ed penned: ‘Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4 x’
Ed announced the birth of Lyra in a similar way, sharing a snap of her baby socks on a blanket alongside his message.
Speaking on the Open house Party podcast in June, Ed revealed he would be ‘super grateful’ to add more members to his family.
The West Yorkshire-born star said: ‘I would obviously be super grateful to be able to have any more kids, but I think girls are far superior to boys. As a boy myself, I feel like I can say this.
‘I feel like we were so lucky to be able to have one that I think I would obviously love more. But I think we’re so lucky to just have one. So if nothing else happens, I’m so happy, basically.’

In November, Ed revealed having his daughter Lyra Antarctica was a ‘blessing’ and a ‘miracle’ after struggling to conceive with his wife Cherry, 30.
The singer told how the couple had booked doctors appointments to check everything was okay after ‘trying to have a kid for a while’.
They then welcomed their first child last August, after conceiving naturally during a holiday in 2019 to Antarctica – which inspired the unusual name.
He told US radio’s The Breakfast Club: ‘We had tried for a while to have a kid, and we’d started going to doctors and figuring out what was up.
‘I did think it was a miracle, so that’s why I was like, we should have this in the name.

‘A lot of it is mental. It’s about relaxing. So many of my friends have been trying different things like IVF or making sure you’re having sex at the right time on the right day, and then they go to a wedding and get p*ssed and relax and they get pregnant.’
He added: ‘It’s not a given. It is a real blessing when it happens.
But he admitted Lyra might not like hearing why she got the moniker. ‘She’ll get older and be like, ‘Urgh’!’ Ed said.
Meanwhile in December, Ed revealed he finds being away from his daughter Lyra ‘really difficult’ and she has given him ‘purpose’ outside of his career.
Speaking on the Ellen Degeneres Show, the chart-topper admitted he was finding it hard being away from Lyra and his wife Cherry, even just for a few days.

He said: ‘I really love being a dad. I started off with my job being my hobby and then one day I got paid for it and it became my job.
‘I just found I didn’t have any purpose outside of that. When I gave myself fixed time off work I wasn’t doing anything I enjoyed because I love music.
‘I actually find this really difficult, being away. There was a conversation about maybe taking Cherry and Lyra over here and jet lag is just not fun for a baby.’
Ed and Cherry were childhood sweethearts, having grown up together in the same town.
They rekindled their romance in 2014 and tied the knot in a small ceremony five years later.
Struggle: ‘We had tried for a while to have a kid, and we’d started going to doctors and figuring out what was up’
‘Me and Cherry’s actual wedding was a tiny affair, with hardly anyone there,’ Ed revealed to fellow musician Jessie Ware on her Table Manners podcast.
‘We did it at night, at a random day in the middle of January, in the middle of nowhere,’ the Sing hitmaker added.
‘No one knew, no one came to it, we lit candles and we got married, went back and had a curry.’
