Bridgerton’s new leading man Jonathan Bailey has shed light on some of tricks of the trade behind the show’s steamy sex scenes.
For season two, the actor – who plays Viscount Anthony Bridgerton – takes on the leading role, with the show focusing on his romance with Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley.
Despite having to film several raunchy scenes for the show, Jonathan insisted that working with an intimacy coordinator helps, noting: ‘It’s pretty silly really and we have some hilarious moments, but it makes it less awkward.’

He told Radio Times: It’s amazing how that whole industry has just come on, even in a year. There are new tricks to the trade – little cushions – and it’s amazing what you can do with a half-inflated netball.’
He explained that the semi-inflated object provided a barrier between their bodies, elaborating: ‘If there are two people doing a sex scene, the rule is they must have three barriers separating them and there are certain acts where a half-inflated netball can allow for movement without having to connect physically.
Bridgerton season two will be released on Netflix on Friday March 25.

Meanwhile, Jonathan recently said he felt pressured to hide his sexuality in order to further his career after being told a publicly gay actor would struggle to win roles.
The star came out in 2018, two years before finding fame in Bridgerton.
But he admitted to having reservations about public disclosure after discussing the issue with actor friends and casting directors about the difficulties associated with being openly gay in the TV and film industry.

Speaking to the latest issue of GQ Hype, the Oxfordshire native recalled his initial reaction after a friend told him about his own experience while auditioning for roles.
‘At the time he was told “There’s two things we don’t want to know: If you’re an alcoholic or if you’re gay,”‘ he told the publication.
‘All it takes is for one of those people in that position of power to say that, and it ripples through. So, yeah, of course I thought that. Of course I thought that in order to be happy, I needed to be straight.’
Eventually he made the decision to be speak publicly about his sexuality after becoming frustrated with the restrictions a closeted public image placed on his personal life.
He said: ‘I reached a point where I thought, “F**k this.” I’d much prefer to hold my boyfriend’s hand in public or be able to put my own face picture on Tinder and not be so concerned about that, than getting a part.’
