Bridget Fonda’s composer husband Danny Elfman, 68, has undergone a serious transformation, swapping his clean-cut appearance for an edgier look.

In photos posted on the musician’s Instagram in May, he was seen with tattoos covering his torso and his hair unruly and grown out.

In one image, Danny appeared shirtless while posing against a green screen and showing off his impressive collection of ink. Other social media shots reveal his back is also heavily tattooed.

It comes after former Hollywood siren Bridget, 58, who retired from acting in 2002 after appearing in a number of critically-acclaimed films like Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, was seen in public last week for the first time in 12 years.

While Bridget has been absent from the limelight, Danny has been in attendance at various red carpet events in more recent years, including the Academy Awards and a handful of movie premieres.

Danny also posted photographs of himself getting inked on Instagram, proving his passion for the art form.

Prior to his transformation, the composer was typically a fan of sharp suits and wore glasses and his hair closely cropped.

In the surprising shirtless image from May, Danny appeared to be filming a music video and was hooked up to wires, most likely for CGI purposes.

Apologising to fans for the delay in the release of his video, he wrote alongside the snap: ‘Why am I hooked up to all these wires? Hmmmm… guess you’ll just have to see.’

The musician is best known for scoring The Simpsons and has also composed material for 16 Tim Burton films.

He and Bridget used to be red carpet regulars on the Hollywood social scene until she quit the spotlight over a decade ago.

Former Hollywood siren Bridget, 58, was pictured for the first time in 12 years last week, marking the first time she has been seen in public since 2009.

The retired actress was seen driving her and husband Danny’s son Oliver, 17, around Los Angeles in her silver luxury Land Rover on Wednesday.

Fonda was last photographed publicly in 2009 while attending the premiere of Tarantino’s World War II epic Inglorious Basterds, having stepped out of the spotlight to focus on raising her son at the family’s ranch in Santa Barbara.

For Wednesday’s errand run, Bridget’s once golden blonde hair was styled into a low ponytail that was secured in place with a scrunchie.

She wore a pair of black framed seeing glasses on her makeup-free face, and beside a few gold earrings, Bridget was completely devoid of accessories.

In another dramatic departure from her once ultra glamorous image, Bridget, the daughter of Peter Fonda, wore a comfy black-and-white striped top and a pair of black sweatpants.

Bridget currently lives with Danny and their only son Oliver in two neighbouring properties located in Encino, which is a neighbourhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles.

Encino is home to many celebrities including Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, Gwen Stefani and Selena Gomez.

The couple, who wed in 2003, spent $8million on two luxury homes on adjacent plots in 2021 after offloading their Hancock Park estate earlier that year.

Bridget has lived a quiet life since retiring from the acting world in 2002.

The LA-based beauty is part of Hollywood’s famed Fonda Dynasty, which includes her grandfather Henry Fonda, father Peter Fonda, and aunt Jane Fonda.

She made her mark on the acting world in the 1980s and 1990s after snagging key roles in a number of box office hits.

Bridget famously starred as fear-plagued protagonist Allison ‘Allie’ Jones in the classic 1992 thriller Single White Female.

That same year she appeared alongside Matt Dillion in the Cameron Crowe-directed romantic comedy Singles.

In 1997, Fonda graced the silver screen with Robert De Niro, Samuel L. Jackson, and Pam Grier in Quentin Tarantino’s crime-drama Jackie Brown.

Her final major role was with Jet Li in 2001’s Kiss of the Dragon.

She’d decided to end her acting career in 2002 in order to start a family with husband Danny – who has two daughters, Lola and Mali, from his marriage to Geri Eisenmenger. The couple welcomed son Oliver in 2005.

In 2020, Danny and Bridget sold their two mansions in Los Angeles for a combined price tag of $14.6 million and moved to Santa Barbara, where they own a ranch.

While initially they only planned on staying there for a month during lockdown, they ended up deciding to make the ranch their primary home.
