A teenage killer driver who ended the lives of five people in a horror crash aged just 15 has been caught back behind the wheel again  – with no licence, insurance or MOT.

Jason Lee Asquith had been driving a stolen Renault Clio when it crashed into a tree in Leeds on November 25, 2017.

He appeared in court last week after being caught illegally driving and he has now been recalled to prison.

Brothers Ellis and Elliott Thornton, aged 12 and 14, were both killed along with Darnell Harte, 15, Anthony Armour, 28, and Robbie Meerun, 24.

He admitted causing the deaths of all five people by dangerous driving and was sentenced to four and a half years’ detention.

But last year he was freed on parole, while serving a disqualification from using a car for another seven years and three months.

Judge Peter Collier QC said: ‘It was your driving of that car on that night which has caused all this pain and hurt.’

The teenager was not publicly identified at his first court case in 2019 because of his age.

But now the reporting restrictions do not apply when he appeared in adult court last week.

JPs in Penrith were told Asquith was caught driving while disqualified in a Ford Focus in Oak Road, Penrith.

He admitted the offence and having no MOT or insurance. He also pleaded guilty to failing to stop when asked to by a police officer.

Darnell’s devastated mother Shelley Harte, 39, stormed: ‘He killed five people and got away with it. They have let him out to drive again and he has got away with it again.

‘He served two years and three months out of the four years.’ She had no idea he had moved to the Lake District.

Anthony Armour, 28, was among the adult victims of the stolen car crash back in 2017

‘I am absolutely horrified that he has been back behind the wheel again. He has not learned his lesson

‘He killed five people and is sat there laughing at us At least, he is old enough to be named unlike before.

‘I got a letter from a liaison officer in York about some case. I brushed it aside but she wrote again so I rang her.

‘She could not tell me what he was in court for – but I just Googled it and found it straightaway.

‘He has been recalled to prison. But between November and May, when his original sentence ends, he can apply for parole again at any time, so he will probably not serve his full time.

‘It is absolutely disgusting. He has never even had a licence or taken a driving test. He was supposed to be banned for years after he was released from prison last year.

‘If he is being locked up again he should not be getting seven days even if that technically did trigger his recall. ‘It sends the wrong message. They are giving him the green light to drive a car again and kill someone else.’

He was released early on February 28, 2020. This offence took place in April this year, just over a year after he was freed, she added.
