This is the moment the doors were ripped off a car as it rolled backwards onto a road thanks to a poorly-applied parking brake.
Home security footage shows the driver and another person desperately trying to stop the car – which has a child inside – moving down the sloping driveway in Phuket, Thailand.
But they cannot stop the two open doors smashing into gate posts at the property before the vehicle comes to a halt.
The footage starts with the man pulling into the driveway. He gets out without closing his door and a woman comes out of the house to greet him.
She greets a child inside the car when the Prius suddenly starts rolling backwards.
The man and woman try and fail to stop the car from rolling backwards into the road by holding the open doors.
The Toyota’s doors then snap as they hit entrance pillars and rolls into an empty road before the man and woman take the child to safety.
The doors snapping on pillars by the entrance was the only thing stopping the man and woman from being crushed
The driver was left counting his lucky stars as there was no oncoming traffic in the road or this parking gaffe could have led to tragedy.
The driver and passenger narrowly avoided being crushed by the doors of the 1.53 tonne Prius as they tried to hold it back.
The video was uploaded to YouTube with many mentioning they were not impressed by the driver in question.
Commenters under the video remarked that the man’s attempt to stop the car from rolling into the road could’ve cost him his life.
The male driver and female passenger in Phuket, Thailand tried desperately to stop the car rolling in order to get the child passenger out of harm’s way
This came after he had failed to engage his handbrake so commenters saw a double mistake on his part.
One wrote: ‘Both people outside the car have terrible survival instincts.
‘As soon as the car starts to move, they get CLOSER to the vehicle and, as a result, almost get crushed between the doors and the wall.
‘Also, why didn’t the driver hit the brakes?
Another commenter quipped: ‘They sure dont make Toyotas like they used to!’
