Donald Trump is eyeing another run at the presidency, and doesn’t seem to have any concerns about his Republican rivals including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Former President Trump is so confident of being the GOP nominee he has said that if he runs again for president, most other Republicans would ‘drop out.’  

If Trump were to face the popular Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, whose popularity has has soared during the pandemic, for the 2024 GOP nomination, Trump said unequivocally ‘If I faced him, I’d beat him like I would beat everyone else.

‘I don’t think I will face him,’ Trump said during the interview. ‘I think most people would drop out, I think he would drop out.’ 

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ popularity has has soared during the pandemic, and stands a good chance of running for the 2024 GOP nomination

Trump made the prediction during an interview with Yahoo Finance that due to be published in full on Monday.   

Te former president, who lost the 2020 general election, still remains popular and curry’s influence among Republican voters and GOP politicians as he toys with the idea of a third run at the presidency.   

Trump, who will be 78 in 2024, is the front-runner early polls for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination race.

When polls are conducted without Trump’s name on the ballot, DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence often come out of top of a large group of contenders. 

DeSantis’ popularity grew during the course of the pandemic thanks to his reluctance to impose COVID-19 restrictions including mask mandates.

The contrarian view seemed to resonate with Republican voters in the state 

DeSantis, meanwhile, is not taking any questions on speculative runs for 2024, still three years away. 

‘I’m not considering anything beyond doing my job,’ he told Fox News last week. 

‘We’ve got a lot of stuff going on in Florida. I’m going to be running for reelection next year and we’re also working on a lot of things in the state beyond just the governor’s race,’ the governor said.
