A hunter discovered a lost GoPro camera while on an adventure in the wilderness of America’s mountain west which contained amazing footage of a bear which previously found the device.
Dylan Schilt was hunting with a bow and arrow in the mountains outside Laramie, Wyoming when he found the action camera that had been lost four months earlier.
The camera had fallen off his snowmobile and hidden by snow when it had been picked up by a bear, who managed to operate the GoPro and film some footage – including a view inside the beast’s mouth.
A bear found a lost GoPro found on a trail outside Laramie, Wyoming earlier this year
The bear was able to operate the camera and even placed the device in his mouth
The bear even picked out the camera and inadvertently gave a view of the scenery
Hunter Dylan Schilt found the camera four months after the bear dropped the device
The camera’s battery was dead, but when Schilt charged it up he was available to view amazing footage of a bear who had found the device and managed to set it recording.
The footage shows the bear holding the camera and even considering eating the device, which had been left out in the wilderness for some four months.
Schilt uploaded the video onto his Facebook page while explaining what had happened to sceptical viewers.
He wrote: ‘Last week when I was up archery hunting, I stumbled across a GoPro that was lost while snowmobiling. When I got back to camp I charged it up and couldn’t believe what I saw.
‘After four months of it sitting there, a big old black bear found it and not only managed to turn it on but also started recording himself playing with it.
‘Hands down the craziest thing I’ve ever found!’
One viewer, Neil Throndson said: ‘Hands down the best way to see the inside of a bears mouth!’
Trish McDaniel said: ‘I don’t think he’s playing with it….I think he’s eating it, lol!
The footage also showed the animal’s terrifying claws which it uses to rip apart its prey
Jade Gibbs thought the animal was ‘looking for the bear necessities’.
Julie Ann Nevill thought the bear was ‘so curious and playful’, while Amanda Jo added: ‘This is amazing footage! Beautiful scenery, beautiful bear.’
Amber Cross added that the footage was the point of view of her death in her ‘bearmares’.
