A model has urged for men to leave women at the gym alone after a man in his 40s attempted to ask her out on a date while she was stretching.

Utah-based model Avrey Ovard, 19, was recording her gym session and stretching when the unnamed man went up to her and started chatting her up.

When Avrey, who has shared the interaction on TikTok, told the man he was ‘too old’ for her, he quipped he was ‘too rich to go out with her’ anyway.

Many of her social media followers criticized the man, saying he had a fragile ego and couldn’t handle rejection, while others said Avrey’s comment would make him think twice about asking out younger-looking girls in the future.

In the clip, Avrey can be seen quietly stretching on a mat placed by the door and water fountain, when the man, whose face isn’t shown, approaches her.

At first, he can be seen asking her name and whether she’s recording, before seemingly walking away. However, moments later he returns to continue their conversation.

Interrupting the model’s workout, he explains how he was at the gym for physical therapy, to which Avrey jokes on TikTok she doesn’t care about.

The man then asks: ‘When I’m about to get out, you might not be here. I wanted to get your number… for dinner.’

After the ‘awkward’ exchange, Avrey, pictured, went back to her phone as if nothing had happened

However, Avrey, who is already in a relationship, calmly replies: ‘Oh I’m sorry, I’m too young for you.’

The man wasn’t pleased with the response, and defensively responded: ‘Yeah? Well I’m too rich.’

The awkward interaction, which Avrey shared with her 180,900 TikTok followers, has since been inundated with comments, with many saying the man’s ego was too fragile to handle rejection.

‘Why can men not handle rejection,’ wrote one.

Fans told Avrey she handled the situation well, while others said the man was too weak to handle rejection (pictured)

A second commented: ‘By saying you’re too young holds him accountable for his actions, half the time we have to say “I have a BF” and men still push for numbers and stuff.’

Meanwhile a third added: ‘I actually like the way you said I’m too young instead of I have a BF idk might steer him away from young people hopefully.’

A fourth wrote: ‘I’m too young was the perfect response.’

‘He’ll prob think about how old he is for the rest of his life now. Men are so weak when it comes to rejection.’
