Girl, 6, is killed and her father is injured after they were hit by a car while walking down the street

  • A girl died on Endon Road in Norton Green, Stoke-on-Trent, at 7.15pm last night
  • She was walking down the street with her father when she was struck by a car 
  • Flowers are being laid at the scene and her father is being treated for injuries 

A six-year-old girl was killed and her father was injured after they were struck by a car while walking down the street.

The young girl was hit by the car in Norton Green, Stoke-on-Trent, at around 7.15pm last night.

Despite the best efforts of passers-by, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her father is being treated for injuries, while the driver of the car is being treated for a head injury. 

Staffordshire Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident which happened on Endon Road.

Inspector Lee Robinson urged people not to speculate about the incident and appealed for CCTV or dashcam footage.

He said: ‘We do not yet understand fully what has happened and so I’d urge people to avoid the area while we investigate and please not to speculate as to the circumstances.

‘However, I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident, or may have CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch and assist our enquiries.

‘The girl’s family will be supported by specially trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this time.’

Resident today laid flowers at the scene in tribute to the girl.

In a statement police said: ‘We are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at around 7.15pm in Endon Road.

‘The girl and her father were reportedly struck by a car as they were walking along Endon Road.

‘Despite the best efforts of passers-by the girl, aged six, was pronounced dead at the scene.’

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the police on 101 or via social media referring to incident 716 of June 19.
