Princess Beatrice showcased the first hint of a baby bump hours as she was pictured hours after announcing her pregnancy on the Sussexes’ third wedding anniversary today.

The Queen’s granddaughter, 32, who tied the knot with Italian property developer Edo Mapelli Mozzi on 17 July last year, is expecting the baby in autumn 2021, Buckingham Palace announced this morning.

This afternoon, the couple appeared in high spirits as they set out for a walk in west London, with Beatrice opting for a loose fitting bright leopard print dress for the occasion.

The mother-to-be, who swept her auburn locks into a high messy bun for the outing, could be seen beaming and chatting with her husband.

The Queen and both families are said to be ‘delighted’ with the news the couple are expecting, which will have brought much joy to the monarch who is mourning the loss of her husband Prince Philip, who died last month aged 99.

Princess Beatrice’s baby will be the second grandchild for Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson and the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild following the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan’s Markle’s second child in the summer.

Beatrice’s baby boy or girl will be born 11th in line to the throne, but although their mother is a princess, he or she will not have a royal title.

Only grandchildren of the monarch through the male line are automatically entitled to the styling of HRH. This means he or she will be plain Master or Miss Mapelli Mozzi.

The Queen could bestow a title on her great-grandchild if desired, but it is unlikely to be asked for.

But several royal fans took social media to point out the timing of the couple’s happy announcement, with one branding it an ‘interesting coincidence’ that the royal baby news was announced on Harry and Meghan’s third wedding anniversary.

He added: ‘Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, was said to have been surprised that Meghan chose to announce that she was pregnant to guests at her wedding in 2018.’

A second commented: ‘Here comes Karma! Lovely news too,’ while a third wrote: ‘I love it. A little karma/poetic justice.’

In their explosive book Royals At War, investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett claimed Meghan Markle ’embarrassed’ Prince Harry after divulging she was pregnant during Princess Eugenie’s wedding day ‘in a huge social gaffe’ which left the bride and her mother Sarah Ferguson ‘furious’.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, is said to have revealed she was carrying her first child when celebrating Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s nuptials with the rest of the Royal family on 12 October 2018.

‘Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child,’ the pair wrote.

‘This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a royal – stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah.’

The authors claim the announcement left Prince Harry, who is living in Montecito, California, with his wife and son, feeling ‘embarrassed’.

One royal fan who took to Twitter to comment on the timing of the news wrote: ‘Good for them, it was spiteful what Meghan did on Eugenie’s wedding day,’ while another noted: ‘I picked up on that as well.’

However, a third commented: ‘And announced exactly on Harry and Meghan’s third wedding anniversary. What a way to be petty.’

Princess Beatrice became an aunt earlier this year when her sister Eugenie gave birth to her first child, August with husband Jack Brooksbank on 9 February.

The royal was seen earlier this week being accompanied by her mother Sarah Ferguson as she drove away from Windsor castle in her personalised Range Rover on 15 May.

Princess Beatrice looked relaxed as she chatted away at the table while checking out her friend’s phone, who appeared to be showing the couple an image.

The royal was also spotted strolling through London on 4 May and concealed any hint of a baby bump by wrapping up warm in a brown coat with a black tie up belt.

Looking chic and stylish, she carried a blue Louis Vuitton Handbag with dark sunglasses as she chatted away on her phone out in Mayfair.

Since revealed their happy news, the couple have been flooded with congratulatory messages from well-wishers across the globe.

‘Ahhh lovely news! Congratulations to the couple!!! I’m so happy for them and the entire family! I can’t wait to meet him/her,’ enthused one,’ while a second suggested a touching tribute to Prince Philip and wrote: ‘I’d love a baby girl this time around. Maybe pretty Philippa.’

A third added: ‘Congratulations to the couple. The Queen was in much need of some good news after losing her puppy. This is it.’

A fourth wrote: ‘Yay! Congratulations to HRH Princess Beatrice and Edoardo! What needed happy news for the royal family!’ while a fifth commented: ‘Congratulations to them, it’s about time the Queen had some good news.’

Beatrice’s blended family: How the princess will raise her baby alongside stepson Wolfie – and can seek advice from aunt Princess Anne whose children are close with their half-sister

By Stephanie Linning

Princess Beatrice will become one of the few royal mothers to raise children in a blended family when she welcomes her son or daughter this year.

The Queen‘s granddaughter, 32, and her property developer husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi, 38, announced today they are expecting their first child together this autumn.

Edo already has a five-year-old son Christopher Woolf, known as Wolfie, with ex-fiancé Dara Huang. American architect Dara remains on good terms with her ex and his new wife and Beatrice is a hands on stepmother.

However if Beatrice does need any advice on navigating the complex family dynamics, she doesn’t have far to look for inspiration and guidance.

She has also shared candid snaps with her half-sister, who is 17 years older.

No doubt Beatrice will be hoping for a similarly close bond between Wolfie and his new brother or sister.

Fortunately Beatrice and Edo have the firm support of their families.

Sarah Ferguson has previously released a statement saying Wolfie is seen as a grandchild and is a ‘much-loved member of the family’.

‘Wolfie is already a very much-loved member of their family and the duchess is very keen to stress that she sees Wolfie as their grandchild too,’ a spokesperson said, after Princess Eugenie announced her pregnancy last year.

Dara is also fully supportive of Beatrice, Edo and the blended family and proudly posts about ‘co-parenting’ with Edo on Instagram.

Last year, a friend of Dara and Edo insisted the estranged couple remain close, with Dara even cutting Edo’s hair and occasionally buying him clothes.

Their amicable relationship meant Dara was on the original guest list for Edo’s wedding to Beatrice, 32, before the coronavirus pandemic forced the couple to cancel their May nuptialsBeatrice and Edoardo later secretly tied the knot on July 17 in Windsor, with the Queen and Prince Philip in attendance and Wolfie acting as best man.

Princess Beatrice and Edo were due to tie the knot at the Chapel Royal of St James’s Palace, in London, on 29 May. But their ceremony was postponed due to Covid-19 and no new date was given by the palace at the time.

Instead the couple chose to have an intimate ceremony attended by just ‘close family.’

A statement released by the palace said: ‘The small ceremony was attended by The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and close family. The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant Government guidelines.’

The bride’s parents, Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York as well as her sister Princess Eugenie, 30, are thought to have been included.

On marriage Beatrice became a stepmother to Edo’s son Christopher, known as Wolfie, who is also thought to have attended.

Beatrice, who is ninth in line to the throne, borrowed one of the Queen’s dresses for her big day and tweeted: ‘It was an honour to wear my grandmother’s beautiful dress on my wedding day, I hope many of you are able to visit the exhibition which is still open at Windsor Castle.’

Her Majesty wore the stunning vintage gown to a State dinner for the Italian Prime Minister in Rome in 1961 and to the premiere of Lawrence of Arabia at the Odeon in London’s Leicester Square in 1962.

Small adjustments were made to the gown by the monarch’s dresser Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin for Beatrice’s wedding day, including the addition of cap sleeves embroidered with vintage diamantés.

The Queen also loaned Beatrice the Queen Mary Fringe tiara she wore herself when she married Prince Philip in 1947.

Philip for a boy? Pregnant Princess Beatrice could pay tribute to her late grandfather or look to husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi’s Italian roots for baby name inspiration

By Bridie Pearson

The royal family has enjoyed a bountiful few years when it comes to new additions to the Windsor – but it does make choosing a name a little harder.

Princess Beatrice and her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their first child together, they announced via Buckingham Palace announced this morning, with royal watchers already speculating on their choice for a name.

The Queen’s granddaughter, 32, who tied the knot with the Italian property developer in September 2020, are expecting the baby in autumn 2021.

Princess Beatrice and her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their first child together, they announced via Buckingham Palace announced this morning, with royal watchers already speculating on their choice for a name. If the new baby is a boy, Philip is a likely choice as Beatrice may pay tribute to her grandfather who died earlier this year, aged 99. If the new baby is a boy, Philip is a likely choice as Beatrice may pay tribute to her grandfather who died earlier this year, aged 99.

The moniker would also follow in the tradition of the two latest royal great-grandchildren.

In February, Beatrice’s sister Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, while their cousin Zara and her husband Mike Tindall also welcomed a boy, Lucas Philip Tindall earlier this year.

Bookies have also speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will call their daughter Philippa in tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh, with odds slashed to 3/1.

For a girl, fans are speculating a name for baby Mapelli Mozzi could be Lily, a tribute to the Queen, whose nickname was ‘Lilibet’ as a young princess.

The nickname was given to Her Majesty as a child and is used by her closest family members, including the late Duke of Edinburgh throughout their 73-year marriage.

Other names such as Victoria and Elizabeth remain solid choices, while Grace and Alexandria have also been speculated, while Beatrice may also pay tribute to her mother in naming her Sarah.

The baby will be the second grandchild for Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and will be the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s eleventh great-grandchild – being born shortly after Baby Sussex.

However, the pair may opt for names with Edo’s Italian roots. While Alexandria or Alexander is a traditional name for royal babies,  its possible the couple will put an Italian twist on it and name their child Alessandro, after Edo’s father, an Olympic skier.

His first son, who he shares with ex-fiancee Dara Huang, is called Christopher Woolf, and known affectionately as ‘Woolfie’.

Diana may also be an option, as it’s Edo’s mother’s middle name, and the name of Beatrice’s aunt.

His mother is Nicola ‘Nikki’ Williams-Ellis, was born Nicola Diana Burrows.
