A gourmet New Years Eve takeaway meal from an exclusive five-star hotel in Mayfair, central London will cost you a cool £415 pounds.
The five-course gastronomic menu, for two, prepared by Michelin-starred chef Hélène Darroze for the Connaught hotel, is designed to give the experience of her restaurant at home.
For those willing to cough up the eye-watering sum for the takeaway meal, it will include foie gras, hand-harvested scallops from Scotland served in their shells and vol-au-vent with lobster.

For dessert, a decadent chocolate dish will be followed by an end-of-meal canelé cake – a french pastry made with rum and vanilla.
The meal for two costs £350 but additional showstoppers of caviar and white truffle gnocci are available for an extra £65 – bringing the total up to £415.
Diners also have the choice to include wine pairings recommended by the restaurant’s sommelier.

Chef Hélène Darroze says: ‘We look forward to spreading a little bit of positivity and joy with our food, even further than Mayfair, and into people’s homes.
‘As always, for me, supporting and showcasing our longstanding suppliers is my highest priority, and it’s never been more important than now.’
The Michelin-starred chef is joining several other luxury Mayfair hotels that are resorting to takeaway options as Tier 4 coronavirus restrictions have forced them to shut their restaurant doors.
They are serving similarly decadent takeaway menus with Claridge’s offering a £75 lobster or beef wellington delivered to homes within eight miles of the hotel.

Another option on the menu is a £60 game terrine for two to three people, served with sourdough toast and Cumberland sauce, and with a £97 bottle of Laurent-Perrier champagne to wash it down.
Despite most pubs, restaurants and hotels being shut for New Years Eve, demand for champagne has gone up, according to The Times.
While group celebrations are cancelled this year, the party will evidently continue at home.
Waitrose reported a 22% rise in sales of champagne compared to last year in the week after Boris Johnson’s announcement of the new tier restrictions.
