Huge explosion at warehouse near Bristol leaves people injured as emergency services rush to the scene

  •  BREAKING: Up to three people have been injured in a warehouse explosion
  •  Avon Fire and Rescue Service are attending the scene in Hartcliffe, Bristol
  •  South Western Ambulance Service are also in attendance to help the injured

A large explosion at a warehouse near Bristol has left several people injured, emergency services have said.  

Avon Fire and Rescue Service says there has been a number of ‘casulties’ following the ‘serious incident’ in the Avonmouth area near Bristol.

Fires from the explosion which took place this morning around 11am on King Weston Lane have been put out by crews from six different fire stations that were in attendance, a fire service spokesperson told MailOnline.

But the incident is ongoing and emergency services are at the scene as well.

Eye-witnesses reported emergency services rushing to the scene, with ‘at least ten ambulances’ along with police and fire crews heading to the scene, reports Bristol Live.

The fire service was called at 11.22am and has confirmed there have been ‘casualties’ as a result of the incident. 

A spokesperson said: ‘We can confirm that there are multiple casualties on site.’

They added: ‘We have been called to a large explosion at 11:22 in a warehouse in Avonmouth.

‘Crews from Avonmouth, Southmead, Yate, Patchway, Kingswood and Temple are currently attending.

‘We are joined by Avon and Somerset Police and Ambulance on site. The incident is ongoing.’

The fire service said they were aware of ‘casualties’ but could not say how many people had been injured in the incident.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service added: ‘South Western Ambulance Service is responding to a serious incident at premises on King’s Weston Lane, Avonmouth, Bristol.

‘We have attended with multiple resources alongside fire service and police personnel.’

Avon Fire & Rescue Service are also on the scene.
