Rock’n’road! Couple get out of their car to jive in a traffic jam after crash causes 11-mile motorway tailback

  • The unknown pair were filmed doing a jive on the M62, West Yorkshire
  • While some found the dance endearing others criticised ‘dangerous’ behaviour
  • Tailbacks formed on eastbound Friday after a crash at Junction 11 westbound

A dancing pair of motorists have been branded ‘clowns’ after they got out of their car to jive on the motorway following a road traffic accident.

The pair were clearly feeling the rush hour blues as they stepped out of their car in bumper to bumper traffic on the M62 in West Yorkshire on October 30.

Happily enjoying an impromptu dance the pair entertained and infuriated as they took centre stage on the eastbound carriageway.

The video received a mixed response after being shared to social media as some claimed the pair were endangering lives whilst others said they were bringing joy to the people watching.

Another social media user speculated that the pair were probably ‘on the way back from Blackpool’, the home of ballroom dancing.

No music could be heard and it was unclear whether the couple were making up the steps or listening to wireless ear buds.

Traffic came to a standstill after a crash between a car and a van took place on the M62 junction 19 for Heywood at around 9.45am on Friday.

A woman was taken to hospital with a ‘serious’ neck injury following the crash, Manchester Evening News reported.

No further update on her condition has been issued.

One Facebook user by the name of Tony Lander commented on the video of the dancers: ‘OMG this is so dangerous! Call the cops rather than film them.’

While Mark Paul commented: ‘These clowns who think they are funny, have just made you sit there for another two hours.’

He added: ‘You will all be there many many times longer than you were going to be. This is why.

‘The CCTV operators have to stop emergency vehicles from attending in the direction of the traffic as these d******** tend to wander out on to the hard shoulder where emergency vehicles need to use to get to the scene and clear it up so you can ALL go home. Instead, the motorway has to be shut at the junction higher up.

‘All the traffic has to be cleared upwards of the incident and the emergency vehicles have to use the closed section to get to the incident in the opposite direction.

‘So Stay in your vehicle, keep your passengers in your vehicle or tell them to walk ! And everyone will be able to get home hours quicker.’

Others found the show endearing, with Jimmy Wood commenting: ‘Suppose they’re making most of a bad situation, a lock down and queue, good on them for keeping spirits up, people need to liven up.’

Dave Driver wrote: ‘They’d obviously not seen the state of one of the cars involved. Didn’t look good.’
