Yvonne Lawson McCann’s body was found in in a country park in Greater Manchester
A husband today appeared in court charged with murdering his wife after her remains were found at a country park.
Yvonne Lawson McCann was found by a walker in Reddish Vale Country Park in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on Monday.
Thomas McCann, 48, who wore grey tracksuit, spoke only to confirm his name and address during the two-minute hearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
The court was told she was murdered between May 22 and 25.
Police were alerted after a passerby reported finding the victim’s body in ‘several parts’.
Detective Superintendent Neil Jones, from Greater Manchester Police, described the discovery as an ‘absolutely devastating incident’.
One of her children posted on Facebook: ‘Miss you mum’, while another friend wrote ‘Please say it’s not true, Vonnie’.
Another said: ‘RIP Yvonne Lawson McCann you will definitely be missed by many, thinking of all your family at this unbearable time. Gone far too soon.’
Friends and family took to social media to pay tribute to Vonnie, pictured right, with one writing: ‘You will definitely be missed by many’

Floral tributes have been left at an entrance to the park as well as at a house nearby.
Det Supt Neil Jones added: ‘This is an absolutely devastating incident.
‘First and foremost, our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones and specialist officers will do everything they can to support them.
‘Understandably, this news may cause concern within the community but I would like to provide some reassurance by saying that, at this time, we believe that this was an isolated incident.’
McCann was remanded in custody until Tuesday when he will appear at Manchester Crown Square.
Greater Manchester Police said they have not formally identified the body but have notified her next of kin about the latest developments.
